Nightlife impresario Daniel Nardicio, who the VillageVoice just voted "Best Gay Party Promoter," is bringing Liza Minnelli and Alan Cumming to the Manhattan stage for the first time when the two perform live at Town Hall on Wednesday, March 13. This is a transfer of their two sold-out shows in Fire Island which the NewYork Times called "the biggest cultural event on Fire Island this Summer." The concert takes place a day after Minnelli's 67th birthday.
Liza Minnelli and Alan Cumming are two theatrical powerhouses who act, sing and both happen to be closely identified with the landmark musical "Cabaret." Liza famously won an Academy-Award for the movie version and Alan won a Tony-Award for the acclaimed Broadway revival.
At Town Hall these incomparable stars will duet on familiar songs from "Cabaret" and Liza will dip into her repertoire of signature songs known the world over. Alan will perform his renditions of songs – from Annie Lennox to his own original compositions. These two old friends will also interact on stage together—sharing stories, songs, and banter of their adventures in life and show-business.
Nardicio said, "It had always surprised me that no producer had thought to put these two long time friends on stage together- considering their consummate performing skills, their history with "Cabaret" and their friendship. It's a no-brainer. That's what people saw on the stage on Fire Island- two good friends having fun. I dare say that this show is a celebration of friendship in general."
The evening will be under the musical direction of Emmy-winning composer Lance Horne.Tickets are $110- $200 (Loge seating) and go on sale December 12th.To buy tickets visit www.lizaandalan.com.
