Muslim Imam Abu Usamah at-Thahabi's Speech To Move Forward Despite Virulently Anti-Gay Attacks

In what critics are calling an affront to Western sensibilities, Muslim Imam Abu Usamah at-Thahabi will be giving a speech at Brunel University in Uxbridge, England tomorrow night. The Muslim speak has made a serious of controversial statements in the past that have inflamed women's groups, religious groups and minority groups.

About the LGBT community, at-Thahabi stated, ""If I were to call homosexuals perverted, dirty, filthy dogs who should be murdered, that’s my freedom of speech, isn’t it?" Adding insult to injury he fueled the fire by adding, "“Do you practice homosexuality with men? Take that homosexual man and throw him off the mountain,”

About women, he stated, "Allah has created the women, even if she gets a PhD, deficient...her intellect is incomplete, deficient."

And regarding those that convert from Islam, there was this, "We hate the people of the kufr [non-Muslims]. We hate the kuffar. Whoever changes his religion from al-Islam to anything else, kill him in the Islamic state."

The University issued a blanked statement noting, "The talk is going ahead as we have a legal duty to protect freedom of speech and we have asked for assurances from the Union of Brunel Students that this person will not breach the policies of the university, such as those on equality and diversity. However, if we are concerned that these policies will be breached, the event will not be allowed to take place.”

Abu Usamah at-Thahabi is scheduled to speak tomorrow night at the university.
