So, apparently I'm the only homosexual on planet Earth who doesn't know that President's Day weekend in Palm Springs is the biggest event to happen since Dolly Parton opened Dollywood. I tried, unsuccessfully I'll add, to book a room for me and my boyfriend, Chris, for his birthday. (Feb. 19) Every response was the same, all dripping in sarcasm: "You want a room for when?" followed by this condescending half-laugh that basically screamed 'surely-you're-not-gay.'
Oh, well. Fortunately, I'm a pretty creative guy so, instead, I bought two tickets for Universal Studios in Los Angeles. I've always wanted to go - and it is all about me, you know - but as it turns out, Chris really wanted to go to Universal instead so it all worked out. But, you may ask, won't it be just as busy there as it would be in the desert owing to the holiday weekend? Well, yes, but not when you pay 14 million dollars for two 'front-of-the-line' tickets. That means that all those excited teenagers who've flown half way around the world to see how movies are made and ride the attractions will have to wait while me and my hunky, beautiful boyfriend sashay pass them. (And I'm not above pushing kids out of the way either if it suits my purposes.)
So, between that, three upcoming articles for the LGBT Weekly (four, if you include my no-holds-barred exposé on Peter Le - I'll be flying up to San Francisco to spend 48 hours with Peter), three upcoming interviews, a book review and a bunch of other stuff, I'm going to be taking a break from Men of Color blog through Monday.
And I wanted to leave you with something that says more than just I love you. I wanted to leave you with something that says please push the play button over and over again.
Enjoy. And have a wonderful holiday weekend, even if, like me, you couldn't find accommodations in Palm Springs.
