Treasure Island Media documentarian Ryan Sullivan has been going about quietly making a masterpiece during his tenure with the bareback powerhouse based in San Francisco. And this week the studio announced the 25-year-old Nebraskan had been given the well-deserved praise he received at the Paris Porn Festival held in late June:
"Island, a documentary exposé of Treasure Island Media, captured the attention of France's leading cultural critics when it was given a special screening to a packed house at the Paris Porn Film Festival in late June. Minorités, one of the most important French blogs on gay culture and politics, opened their summer issue with an analysis of Island. Reviewer and professor of philosophy Richard Mèmeteau compared 25 year old filmmaker Ryan Sullivan to some of the most vibrant, innovative, and celebrated directors in international cinema, including Pier Paolo Pasolini, David Lynch, and Luchino Visconti."
Wow! That's some praise. But you should see for yourself, which you can here and here. I was persistent enough to get an interview (you can see how lucky I indeed was right here) with this very, very sexy man and personally found his filmmaking skills to be matched by his intelligence. And so sweet, too! And it's great for Ryan, Treasure Island Media and a public hungry for to watch other perspectives of porn that aren't quite, um, conveyed in porn movies like, say, "Still Cuckoo For Cocoa Cocks" or "Sausage Fest."
