How Wolf Hudson Sees It: A Conversation with MOC

When porn performer Wolf Hudson agreed to speak with me but on the condition that I could not discuss the whole gay-for-pay issue, I almost wrote him back to tell him that, no, I won't do it on that condition. I was honestly afraid that there was no "there" there and that Wolf Hudson would be another 'Deer-in-the-headlights' interview with a young man who brought nothing but his good looks and a big cock to the table. (And under any other circumstance that would totally be okay.) But boy was I wrong! In a conversation last night that stretched to almost two hours - and included a good deal of playful banter that has been redacted here - Wolf and I discussed a range of issues that showed that Messr. Hudson is not - by any stretch - in that famous line from "Body Double," just a "stunt cock." Wolf is at turns funny, insightful, playful and serious. (Damn you, Sagittariuses!) And while hindsight is 20/20 and I wish now that I could have pressed him more fully on some of his answers - namely, why CockyBoys and sites like that have done such a piss poor job of encouraging and retaining models of color - I realized that at 24-years-old, I will be having one of the most prolific porn performers working today back for many more conversations...

MOC: Wolf, thank you for stopping by to talk with me.

Wolf Hudson: No problem, thank you for having me!

MOC: Okay, so do you want to punch me first? You know, get it out of the way?

Wolf: I am not a violent person, so that won't be necessary. LOL.

MOC: Good. Because I fall easily. But, seriously, you are agreeing to be here - in light of some of the, er, dick-ish things I've said  about your porn roles. So, okay, why did you agree to talk with me?

Wolf: Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. I agreed because you approached me like a true professional and you were kind with your message.

MOC: Aw, I want to hug you, I do. As a heterosexual, of course.

Wolf: LOL. Of course. A bear hug will do.

MOC: Okay, I'll hold you to that. So, good. Now let's move on. Let's talk about Wolf the Pop and Lock dancer. (See Wikipedia.) I would so totally vote for you on "So You Think You Can Dance." Where did the love of dance come from?

Wolf: I've always had this hunger to dance, but I was to afraid I would look stupid. But, Michael Jackson was my biggest influence..I joined a hip hop group in HS and had to learn his moves as my dance coach wanted someone to do his style.

MOC: It's almost like you are hard-wired to express yourself physically. Dancing, sex on camera. Do you see a connection?

Wolf: You are totally right!! When I'm dancing I truly show myself off and tap into something not within my normal realm. Same on camera. Its like I'm two different people.

MOC: Let me ask you something that's probably a little deep this soon into things...

Wolf: OK.

MOC: But do you feel there's an element of control in what you do?

Wolf: Once I let go and tap into my character, whether it be through dancing or sex, I take it and fully take charge.

MOC: I want to come back to your high school years because it is there that we begin to see traces of your very independent streak, no?

Wolf: Yes, very much. I came into my own.

MOC: So what drew you to dance? Would you get, say, the same rush or high from dancing that you get performing in or directing over gay porn?

Wolf: I've always wanted to dance and it was something that kept building up inside of me...The more I tried not to do it...no more it kept escalating. Once I did it, it was like a jolt of lightning and I knew I was meant to do it. I became very comfortable with my self socially and sexually.

Wolf: LOL.

MOC Were you not before? Socially and sexually?

Wolf: Oh, God no!!! I was sheltered for most of my youth. I was very awkward.

MOC: You also pursued acting.

Wolf: I did not know how to go about doing thing with friends and what not. My mother kept a very tight leash on me. It was hard for me being a teen. Acting is my number one passion. I've always liked playing someone other than myself.

MOC: Like a gay-for-pay porn star?

Wolf: [There has been] the opportunity to play many different characters in porn and its an amazing feeling. I love taking a character and manipulating everything about this person and then putting it out there.

MOC: How so?

Wolf: As myself, I'm very humble and quiet. But as "Wolf," I can tap into things I could never do..I can be crazy, silly, edgy, anything with Wolf. Its like taking a blank canvas and painting something new [on it]. I don't know what I'm going to paint, but I know its going to be amazing and just going through that process that makes it worthwhile.

MOC: I want to ask you about Michael Lucas now. His reputation proceeds him. What say you? What was it like working with one of the giants of the Industry?

Wolf: Everyone has an image in the industry and that's what brings them attention. I know Michael and he's been a very kind person to me. I was shocked when I was told I would be working with Ben Andrews. I am not a bottom AT ALL!!!

MOC: You don't have to sell me, dear.

Wolf: What I'm trying to say is...I could have said no, but I knew if I did it, it would bring me attention. And I was right about it.

MOC: So would raping a bus driver.

Wolf: Very true. I think that is from a Chi Chi movie...

MOC: What words come to mind in describing Michael's directorial style?

Wolf: I would say he is very direct. He knows what he wants and he is very intense but in a very good way. He knows what looks good and lets you know it. When he sees something he likes, he steps back and lets it unfold. [He's] very much a perfectionist and that is a good thing.

MOC: According to a very flattering portrait of you on Wikipedia (see link above), the story unfolds with you going to San Francisco next to pursue a career in porn, yes?

Wolf: Yes, when I decided to pursue the industry full time, I knew I had to move to California. Factory Videos brought me in to do some shoots in San Francisco and it worked out for me. It was a big change for me. I didn't know what to expect or where I was gonna go with doing porn. But I knew i had to do it 100% and never looked back. I was very hungry and determined to make it.

MOC: You never looked back because you're a top?

Wolf: LOL. Something like that. Hey, what do you call a "top" in San Francisco?

MOC: I give.

Wolf: A tourist. LOL.

MOC: You know, what Davyd (Dixon of CockyBoys.com) said of you was true. You give good interview.

Wolf: Thank you so much.

MOC: Really? That much?

Wolf: I'm just talking to you like I would with any other person. Nothing different.

MOC:  You know, honestly..When you told me the whole gay-for-pay thing was off the table...I told one my friends, fuck, what are we going to talk about?? But so far you've proved me wrong. You're funny and insightful.

Wolf: I really appreciate that. You're very easy to talk to.

MOC: Alright, let's talk about CockyBoys, can we?

Wolf: Go for it.

MOC: You signed an exclusive contract with them, right?

Wolf: Correct.

MOC: Which means what?

Wolf: I only shoot exclusive gay web content for the site.

MOC: So no Wolf anywhere else?

Wolf: Well, DVD is not off limits, but to a minimum. But if the right project comes a long, I would work something out with Kyle Majors (the owner of CockyBoys) for that to happen. Kyle is a great person like that and has been very kind and giving to my career and that speaks volumes.

MOC: But are you the ONLY Dominican-slash-African-American-slash-French model on the site? Isn't that, like, so anti-something? (And you know how mad I get about these things.)

Wolf: God, I hope not.

MOC: Really, there are others?

Wolf: CockyBoys is equal opportunity and he didn't see me for my color or race, he saw me for being a good performer. As the site continue to grows, there will be more diversity. And that's a very good thing.

MOC: Well, at least it's not another "All-American" site. Jesus, that's tired. Why do you think it's so hard for ethnic men to appear on these sites like CockyBoys, Sean Cody and Corbin Fisher?

Wolf: I think porn should reflect America and its huge melting pot...

MOC: And what do you think that says about Gay Porn?

Wolf: To be honest with you, I have no clue why its been like this for so long. But I truly believe that times are changing and studios are embracing the future and that means more diversity.

MOC: Is that like an I.O.U.? Change we can believe in?

Wolf: TOTALLY!! People like Diesel Washington have opened the doors wide for the African-American performer in the "mainstream" industry.

MOC: Hm...he bitched about getting paid only $900 a scene from Titan. That seems well underpaid for a man of his stature, don't you think?

Wolf: He is talking about the state of the industry. Everyone has been hit hard by the economy.

MOC: The economy or has it been something else? Like Free Porn?

Wolf: Oh, no, its totally the economy. It's everywhere.

MOC: What's everywhere?

Wolf: People are suffering with our economy. People are losing jobs and taking pay cuts. It's our reality at the moment.  But I am hopeful we will rebound.

MOC: What sorts of movies do you like, porn or otherwise? If I were going to take you to a movie on a second date, which one would it be?

Wolf: A second date, huh? I feel honored! LOL. I like all types of movies. My favorites are comedies and films about the underdog. Like "Rocky." I can relate to those types of films.

MOC: Where are you now with your career?

Wolf: I am still moving forward, its only the beginning for me. I have so many things I want to do..But now I'm taking the role of director for CockyBoys.com.

MOC: What's the average length of a scene from Cockyboys.com?

Wolf: Well, it takes 2 hours to shoot a scene, but I think the end product is 20 minutes in length. We cover everything.

MOC: Except minorities.

Wolf: OH NO YOU DIDN'T! LOL.

MOC: Hug?

Wolf: We just shot our first African-American for the site and it was HOT!

MOC: You mean shot like as in assassinated?

Wolf: Funny.

MOC: Where is porn heading, Wolf? How are 13- and-14-year-olds now going to view it legitimately in their near future?

Wolf: You know something? When I was a kid, I loved watching porn and did EVERYTHING I COULD to see it. Now that I'm an adult, I believe there are certain things kids should not be exposed to. I will not be the one and try to enforce it, but parents just need to be very honest and open about sex so it doesn't become too much of a taboo. If you tell your kid not to do something, most of the time, they will do it anyway. But just talking to them about right and wrong with them... they will have more respect for the parents and less likely to do things without thinking about it. But that is just me.

MOC: But when they are ready for explicit sex how do you see it being portrayed in the near future? As something normal and uninhibited or something that because of boundaries will continue to make it illicit?

Wolf: I think it will be a lot more open for them when they become adults. It's already happened in Europe. They view sex a lot more differently than people in America. It's not so shocking in their eyes.

MOC: Why is porn still so taboo, Wolf? The line has continued to shift and yet it still can't cross that "threshold." Why?

Wolf: Religion. Bottom line. They preach their own view and continue to look down upon what's different and what's different is normal and beautiful.

MOC: What's the one thing that's surprised you the most about the Gay Porn Industry?

Wolf: How accepting they are about people and support about what models are doing. I truly believe what porn stars are doing is a public service. I have heard soo many stories from people about how porn has made their lives so much better. And that brings a smile to my face and lets me know that what I'm doing is right. I am very proud of our industry and will be there to support it anyway I can.

MOC: What is the biggest misconception the viewing public has of porn performers?

Wolf: That we are drug addicts! And it's the complete opposite. I don't drink or do drug and I produce adult films and live a regular life.

MOC: Well, insofar as a straight guy sucking other guy's dicks goes.

Wolf: LOL.

MOC: One last question if you still have time?

Wolf: Of course

MOC: When you meet a woman that's held your interest, what do you look for? What "gets" Wolf Hudson?

Wolf: Well "Wolf" has his own tastes. (*wink*) But "me"... I like a person who is funny, articulate and VERY intelligent and keeps me on my toes. I love someone who is not afraid to speak their mind and can keep up a great conversation. But not take themselves too seriously. Like being silly and not caring what they look like in the process. Confidence is very attractive.

MOC: So, okay, one very last thing?

Wolf: Shoot.

Seriously? I'm really not interested in the musings of a pornstar. Frankly the only thing interesting about him is the fact that he's a gay for pay performer who can't handle criticism that he's a gay for pay performer. Why bother?
