The Fall of The House of Clinton

There was a moment during the 1996 Democratic National Convention when President Bill Clinton, under pressure to explain why a President who lost The Congresss in '94 deserved a second chance. And while I don't remember all the lip-sucking moments and the pain, I do remember him speaking to an America that in his words included all Americans, "gay or straight."  Which, despite Will, Grace, Jack and Karen's future successes was pretty gusty at the time.

But, like all his words, they were calculated to achieve maximum impact. They weren't meant to give definition or shape to public discourse. After all, two years later, he signed the Defense of Marriage Act in the total and absolute confusion of the Monica Lewinsky hullabaloo. Everything with Clinton was symbolism. He was simply incapable of understanding the impact of his actions and, if so, was so sufficiently protected by enablers that it didn't matter. So what, you ask, does that have to do with Hillary? Well, everything, actually. Hillary is Enabler-in-Chief and, as such, has a sworn duty to uphold and protect her loved ones. Unfortunately for her, that includes the uneducated, poor, elderly white people prone to planting roots in the Appalachia region of the U.S. that extends in the north into Pennyslvania and, in the South, to the northern tips of Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia. Not exactly a reliable voting bloc for Democrats. But that's the problem. Hillary wins this group not by the strength of her ideas or her political connections but in painting herself against Obama. Him. The Other. She plays to the racist strain in this region and plays  it perfectly. Especially with a mostly indulgent press. (Did anyone bother to challenge this?!) And just for that, she deserves to stay in the race. Let Americans see how, if President, she would challenge us to make America whole again - to those of us still listening. Her campain has certainly taught us a thing or two, though...Attacks work, Lies work, Yellow-colored pantsuits accented with Chanel-like, 70's black trim? Not so much.

So what exactly are you smoking? Obama is dead in the water. Between "Rev." Wright, his militant nasty greasy haired bitch of a wife, gay sex scandals that are on the front page of The Globe at every grocery check out stand in the country for the past two weeks and his skipping every state where is knows he is going to lose before the votes are counted, he most certainly is an elitist empty suit. White people greatly outnumber the blacks and there is no way in hell that we are going to entrust the leadership of this country to a black Muslim who smokes crack with no experience and votes "Present" most every time. Its over! Those of us who make a living my making decisions on character and judgment in business deals everyday, knew this long ago.
