Jeremy over at Starrfucker has a terrific post from the 27th entitled: "The Un-Wanted Guest Stars." Essentially it's a dead-on critique of some gay adult sites that feature characters - extras, the producers themselves, etc. - who engage the models but frankly have no business in front of the camera perverting what is otherwise supposed to be hot boys engaging in all manner of masturbation and coitus. But beyond its truthfulness, it's a frank observation and something rarely encountered in the small, clannish world of gay adult porn - criticism. People dance so gingerly in this Stepford Wives-eqsue world we rarely read anything but bland observation or fawning. Michael Lucas may be ignorant - in fact he may understand all too well the power of controversy - but he calls it like he sees it. Case in point - Dude Tube's uber-obsequious peaen to The Great Cock Hunt noting that the blogger is "a great writer." Great? Edmund White is a great gay writer. The Great Cock Hunt is amusing and playful and he certainly understands the importance of a good narrative but frankly anyone who has time to sit around and read about some white guy's sexual exploits - which quickly becomes repetitive - needs to get out and get laid and write their own story. Here's a title: Life 101. And when Fleshbot - which has wisely added video by way of Dude Tube to its daily offerings - calls Dude Tube's contributions "inestimable" I'm left wondering if anyone has any critical faculties left?! What exactly is "inestimable" about copying and pasting videos from YouTube and calling yourself a blogger other than saving all those millions of people who find the same clonish, hairless, semi-to-muscular white boys (YAWN) behaving like circus monkeys in front of their camcorders. The only thing I find remarkable about The "Dudester" is that no one thought to do this before. Oh, wait, that's right, they have. It's called, er, YouTube. But now that Fleshbot has realized that as funny and as well-written as their posts are - and some of their writing is downright hysterical - reading clever blurbs about sex sites will never compete with video. It's a cultural shift that cannot be beaten back. But do we really need more of the same. More white twenty-somethings? More presumably straight boys feeding into the unhealthy neuroses of insecure homosexuals? We'll see. But here at MOC we will be launching a new sidebar item tomorrow. The Fleshbot/DudeTube Diversity Meter. Since it took the addition of Rod Mac for Fleshbot to add an element of diversity in their postings let's hope that the addition of DudeTube doesn't simply recreate what is already an over-saturated, over-hyped market and send one of the few truly well-written blogs back to stone ages.

isn't that what the world needs more than anything, right now, more naked white 20somethings that could pass for barely legal from the A&F photo shoot easily passing for hetero in the Bush "led" country of ours? isn't it?! Bueller?
